The Complete Appaloosa Horse by Jan Davis This book goes into the history of difernt horses, many good photo's clearly marked with who the photo is of. you can order your copy directly from Jan Davis from this link
The Complete book of the Appaloosa by Jan Haddle this book has lots of information and photo's on the founding appaloosa horses. This book is out of print and VERY hard to find (usually goes for a lot of money) so keep your eye open at E-bay or Amazon.com
The Nez Perces: Tribesman of the Columbia Plateau by Dr. Francis Haines tells you about the Nez Perces Indians and their horses - the appaloosa. very interesting reading - paperback edition still in print

documents the early days (1940's) of this breed. Has photo's of the founding
appaloosas. This book is out of print.
