Questions and Answers: While looking through some old Appaloosa News, I came across this Question and Answer segment that really caught my attention. So much of what was printed over 4 decades ago still applies to today's world. This particular segment is about breeding as it appeared in the Appaloosa News in 1961. It should be noted that  while George Hatley was the editor at the time this appeared and was normally the person who responded to questions, I can find nowhere where the actual respondent is identified.

Questions and Answers: These particular segments are about purebred, as they appeared in the Appaloosa News in 1961.

The Gelding Myth:  This article is well worth the reading!
Excerpt from Practical Horse Management WITH SPECIAL EMPHASIS ON THE APPALOOSA by Chardy Shealy
"...THE GELDING MYTH is just that, a myth. The myth states that any stallion that is gelded has a problem, "wasn't good enough to be a stallion." Absolutely untrue!...."

Why Appaloosas Should Not Be Crossbred With Non-Appaloosa Roans and Grays of Other Breeds: "The Appaloosa has many good qualities, but the asset that attracts the most new interest is his unusual and eye-catching coat markings."  This article appeared in the November, 1976, issue of the Appaloosa News written by George Hatley
